Dave at Colonial has worked on two family heirloom pieces of furniture for me.
Both times the work was done exactly as he described on time or even before promised.
They look great. He rebuilt the base of an old oak table. I would never
know the difference. He also stripped the paint from a hip chair, matching the finish on the
other chairs in the set and leaving
the burl wood with a lovely sheen.
His prices are very reasonable. Since I work
long hours he has agreed to meet me at his
shop at my convenience and his son delivered my table since I could not get there during
regular hours. Thanks Dave!

My favorite pastime is scouting consignment stores and estate sales for beautiful wood
pieces that were finely crafted but damaged by time and the elements. Whenever I buy
something in bad condition, I say to myself "David will fix it for me." I have been going
to David for several years now,and can recommend him and his team as absolutely
reliable, professional, and very, very talented. They are true craftsmen in an
age when that kind of skill and committment is harder and harder to find. We are lucky
to have them in the DC metropolitan area!

Great customer service! Great father and son team! Great job! My hand carved table had a
2" crack through the top and side. Dave managed to fill in the gap and replace/recarve all
the little pieces down the side.

I recommend Colonial Restoration. Dave and J arrod have done several projects for me over
the past few years. The quality of their work is excellent and they have also done pickup
and delivery for my larger furniture pieces. They have been good consultants about what
kind of repair and refinishing needed to be done. I looked them up because I am preparing
to call them again for some other furniture pieces, and I am confident they will do a
good job for a fair price.

Getting married meant gaining a husband AND his furniture. Good furniture but in need of
extensive work. From the blue buffet that matched nothing in the diningroom (it does now),
to gilding done on a mirror that brought this piece to life, Colonial Restoration Studios
(CRS) did it all.
Over a two year period, CRS refinished a baby grand piano, a full set of
library bookcases, bedroom furniture and more. They recaned a headboard, replaced ugly
(I mean ugly) "decorative" wiring and material in an armoire with gorgeous etched glass, and
found and restored 8 chairs from the 19th century so that they look like they always
were paired with the 12' antique diningroom table (also refinished by CRS) they now sit
around.
At a DC club I introduced CRS to, they did faux painting, furniture repair and
restoration, and even repaired an oriental carpet in one of the mansion?s rooms. Fabulous
quality work, great prices, dependable service and multi-talented, terrific people. CRS is
the best!

Dave Hawksford and his son Jarrod restored all our fire and water damaged furniture,
many valuable painting, gilded frames, oriental screens, piano, and lacquered
furniture oriental furniture. The work was excellent and I continue to have Dave gild
projects for me as they arise.
He is very mindful of any job he dose to make sure it is done correctly and if I have any questions
he has always been very accommodating and patient with me to assure me 100% satisfaction.
I would highly recommend Colonial Restorations Studios for any job that needs a personal touch.

Our first experience with Colonial was the restoration of a bedroom set that had been in
my wife's family for a few generations. They did a terrific job; the furniture looks great and
their prices were very fair. Since, then, we've had several other pieces redone. Dave and his guys are
masters of their art.
